I went to Peach studio as a total beginner to Reform Pilates, Sherryl was very kind explained everything very well and gave advice to alter the exercise when I needed due to my knee issues. The studio itself is beautiful and has a lovely relaxed feel to it.

As a 52 year old woman I couldn't find the right kind of exercise that I enjoyed until now. I attended my first class this week and have just completed my second class and I can safely say I have loved every minute of it.

Not once did I ever feel pressured or like I was being judged - it was such a welcoming, calm, and friendly atmosphere. I appreciate the small class sizes - it really helps for the extra guidance and support.

Stunning studio, fantastic equipment and Coach Sherryl is excellent! Brilliant experience couldn't recommend enough coming from someone who solely weight trains, this was a welcome change.

Not exercised for years but I absolutely love this and can really feel it working every time I go. I have never felt uncomfortable or self conscious during the sessions.

Attending alone for the first time can feel a bit intimidating, but Rachael and the girls made me feel so welcome from the moment I walked in. Rachael is such a supportive and encouraging instructor, she explains everything so clearly and creates a really positive atmosphere.

I have been coming to Peach Studio for nearly 18 months, and I cannot recommend Sheryl and the team highly enough. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and create such a welcoming environment.

The workout was easy enough for me as a beginner, but also pushed me enough that I felt I'd really worked my body.

Who Peach Studio is for

You don't need to be flexible. You don't need to be fit.

You don't need any experience

Most people who walk in have never used a reformer. Re-Fresh Beginners exists for exactly that, and reviewers who had not exercised in years say they were never left to work it out alone.

Never just left to figure it out yourself.

Small classes, real attention

You get proper individual attention rather than a room you disappear into, and an instructor watching your form the whole way through. It still runs as a friendly group class, not a one to one.

Class passes. Valid 3 months.

No membership, no contract

There is no membership to join and nothing to cancel. You buy a class pass, use it within three months, and come back when it suits you.

Everyone in the room is different

Everyone in the room is different

Peach Studio is more than coming in, exercising and going home. It is a down to earth community where people of different ages, abilities, shapes and sizes move together, with no intimidating culture and no expectation to be perfect.

Never used a reformer before?

What is Reformer Pilates?

Most people who book their first class here have never been on one. Here is what the machine actually does, and what an hour in the studio is like.

  • The machine does the supporting

A reformer is a sliding carriage on springs, with a footbar and straps. You lie, sit or stand on it and the springs carry part of your weight, so the machine supports your body while you work rather than loading it.

  • A class is coached from start to finish

An instructor takes the room through a sequence and talks you through each movement on the machine before you do it. Beginners consistently say everything was explained and nothing was assumed.

  • The springs change to suit you

Resistance can be made lighter or heavier, and every exercise has an alternative. One reviewer worked around long-standing knee issues from her very first class.

  • It is a workout, not a stretch class

Re-Form, the everyday class, is a balanced full-body workout built to improve strength, posture and mobility. You are working against spring resistance throughout, not holding a stretch.

Reformer or mat: which should you start with?

Mat Pilates uses just your own body weight to build a strong foundation, and Peach runs one, Infinite Mat Pilates, at Infinite Wellbeing in Heanor. Everything at the Ripley studio is on a reformer, where the carriage and springs both support you and give you something to work against. If you are starting from scratch, Re-Fresh Beginners is the class built for it.

The people in the room

Meet the team

Sherryl, Founder & Lead Instructor at Peach Studio
Founder & Lead Instructor

Sherryl

The instructor named most often in Peach Studio's Google reviews

Sherryl came to Pilates the way a lot of her clients do, through an injury. She describes herself as a gym-lover, and it was a weight training injury that first put her on a reformer. She founded Peach Studio and leads the teaching here.

She likes classes that are fun and challenging, and she is at her best with the people who walk in most nervous. In her own words, she enjoys supporting clients who have body hang-ups and injuries, and helping them appreciate what their bodies can achieve.

I love Sherryl's classes! She is such a good instructor, whether you have been going for weeks or it's your first time.

A member's story

Six months in, and a week walking in the Lake District

Sue had always suffered with painful knees. She started Pilates at Peach Studio twice a week and stuck with it for six months. What happened next she wrote herself, and it's printed below exactly as she left it.

I cannot thank Peach Studio enough. I have always suffered with painful, dodgy knees. After 6 months of Pilates, twice a week, there is a remarkable improvement. Just came back from a week walking in the Lake District. I have had no knee problems at all. No pains or stiffness and my legs feel so much stronger. Thank you
